Biography
Petyo Petrov was born on October 16, 1968, in Pleven, Bulgaria. His artistic journey began at an early age, culminating in his graduation from the "Professor Venko Kolev" National School of Applied Arts in Troyan, Bulgaria, in 1987.
After completing his education, Petyo moved to Spain, where he lived for eight years. During his time in Madrid, he held his own exhibitions and actively participated in collective displays. His artwork garnered recognition, and he is proud to count celebrities such as Pedro Almodóvar, Rossy de Palma, Carmen Sevilla, the Duchess of Alba, and Rafaela Carra among his esteemed collectors. Upon his return to Bulgaria, Petyo engaged with the art community through several television interviews in Pleven and Sofia, as well as hosting his own exhibitions. №Eventually, he relocated to the Netherlands, where he has resided ever since. In Friesland, he continues to showcase his work through solo and group exhibitions, while also focusing on private sales.
Petyo Petrov is primarily known as an abstract and modern artist whose creative repertoire spans various styles, including figurative art, minimalism, cosmic art, erotic art and graphics on paper. A lifelong passion for painting has evolved into a professional career, with inspiration drawn from the mysteries of extraterrestrial life and the vastness of the universe. Petyo believes in a unique connection with alien life, which is vividly reflected in his “cosmic art” paintings. Alongside these themes, he boldly embraces his sexual orientation, allowing it to serve as a profound source of inspiration in his work. Through his vivid and evocative paintings, he explores themes of intimacy, identity, and self-acceptance.
